Royal Prints Enhances Folding and Pasting Operations with Bobst Novafold Investment

In a strategic move to enhance its folding and pasting capabilities, Royal Prints, based in the RIICO Industrial Area of Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, has recently invested in a state-of-the-art Bobst Novafold folder-gluer. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and product quality.

Gaurav Bhargava, Director of Royal Prints, stated, “As a company experiencing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 15%, it is imperative for us to invest in advanced equipment that enhances precision and speed. After evaluating various brands of folder-gluers, none met our expectations until we approached Bobst. A visit to Bobst’s head office in Pune, where we tested 11 different types of mono cartons, convinced us of Bobst’s superior capabilities. The successful trial of all samples within eight hours solidified our decision.”

Chandrashekar Dhote, Regional Manager – Sales (North & East) at Bobst, expressed his satisfaction with the informed decision made by Royal Prints. He noted, “Royal Prints brought 11 jobs to our competence center in Pune for trials on the Novafold machine, and we successfully ran all of them in eight hours. Their satisfaction with the fast changeover and the expertise of our process engineering team highlights our commitment to providing comprehensive solutions, not just machines.”

Bhargava further explained the rationale behind choosing Bobst, despite the higher initial investment. “When comparing the total cost of ownership, including longevity, metallurgy, design, and productivity, the investment in Bobst is justified. Since implementing the folder-gluer, we have seen significant reductions in converting time. For instance, we recently produced 200,000 straight-line cartons in just two and a half hours, running the machine at a speed of 100,000 boxes per hour. Our existing India-made machine would have taken six to seven hours for the same output.”

He emphasized the machine’s precision, “The Bobst Novafold ensures perfect pre-breaking of creases and produces zero-fault pre-folded glued boxes, minimizing our involvement in the folding-gluing process. This has greatly boosted the confidence of our QC department, allowing them to approve jobs in a matter of minutes.”

Royal Prints, a family-owned business, is managed by Mukesh Bhargava and his two sons, Gaurav and Abhishek. Gaurav oversees marketing and new product development, while Abhishek handles administration and production. Mukesh Bhargava remains responsible for administration. The business, originally started by the late Moolchand Bhargava in Jaipur in 1963, has evolved significantly over the decades. In 2014, the company was renamed Royal Prints after relocating from Karol Bagh, Delhi to Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, to be closer to their industrial clientele.

Mukesh Bhargava explained the strategic relocation, “We moved to Bhiwadi to be closer to our customers. We supply materials to Amritsar, Roorkee, and Lucknow, serving over 20 clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Approximately 60-70% of our jobs involve Pantone colors. We convert more than 100 tonnes of paper and board per month, operating 12 to 14 hours daily, with a production capacity of up to one million boxes per day.”

Looking ahead, the company plans further investments to streamline its operations. “Die-cutting is our next bottleneck, and we are planning to invest in a Bobst die-cutting machine in the coming months to overcome this,” Mukesh Bhargava added.
