The Industrial Edge runtime environment allows the safe, local execution of an arbitrary number of Edge Applications on different Edge systems, depending on their performance.
The provision of the integrated connectivity function of Industrial Edge Runtime for systems being operated at the field, control and IT/Cloud level reduces the software implementation expenditure at the customer, compared to conventional data processing solutions used on Linux and Windows systems.
On the basis of the open container standard Docker, Edge Applications can be programmed once, scalable on the most diverse Edge Devices. This also allows to split up the software into easy-to-handle parts and to update, start and stop them in a dedicated manner from an external source.
An integrated data bus on the Industrial Edge Runtime based on MQTT allows to set up a safe and controlled App-to-App communication and the exchange of data between external systems and Edge Apps. Interface interdependencies are thus resolved in a sophisticated manner. After being programmed, the apps can be integrated into the most varied domains and automation systems.
The Edge Devices are commissioned and configured via the Industrial Edge Management.
Dedicated Edge devices:
Dedicated Edge devices are supplied with pre-installed Industrial Edge Runtime for the purpose of Edge Computing only. Industrial PCs of different performance classes are offered with pre-installed Edge Runtime.
Edge-Enabled Automation Systems:
These devices offer a native support for Industrial Edge Runtime, additionally to their technological function. This supports high-performance data processing with short latency times and function extension through Apps. By onboarding the devices to the central management system, an arbitrary number of devices can be managed centrally.
