SIMATIC Ident - RFID Systems - Code Reading Systems: Rf160c Setup Including Rf 240R reader

Hi all,
We are trying to configure our RF reader with sinumerik 840DSL  (720.3 hardware with inbuilt S7300 317 CPU)  and following RF components are used .

We are using standard library given in the following application example for configuring the RFID.
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/63969277/simple-communication-between-simatic-rf160c-and-simatic-s7-controllers?dti=0&lc=en-US
After configuration we are trying to reset the RF160C but its giving error ( error code  : 1500).
We assume that error might be the problem with the RF parameters because all the hardware is new.
We got only one RFID reader so we left X2 port of RF160C as open, Is there any problem with that?? do we want to terminate the X2 port with a terminator??
It will be helpful if someone share some sample project with S7 300 (step 7).
Regards / Alfin Paul

RFID Reader Configuration with SINUMERIK 840DSL & S7-300

Hello Alfin Paul,

Regarding the error code 1500 during RF160C reset with your SINUMERIK 840DSL (720.3 hardware with S7300 317 CPU) setup, you're right to suspect RF parameter issues, especially with new hardware.

X2 Port Termination: Yes, leaving the X2 port of the RF160C open can cause issues. The RF160C requires a proper termination resistor (typically 120 ohms) on the X2 port even if not used. This ensures signal integrity.

Resources:

Unfortunately, a complete sample project for S7-300 is not readily available publicly. However, the provided application example and Siemens support articles should guide your configuration. Double-check RF parameter settings (power level, frequency, etc.) and ensure the X2 port is terminated.

If you continue to experience issues, please open a support request via SiePortal with the error logs and your hardware/software versions for further assistance.

Sincerely,
Siemens Self Support
