Process Instrumentation / Analyzer Systems / Weighing Technology / Valve Positioner / MI Digital Solution: Issue material build up over Lr560 Height Sensor Reading radar

Hi,
I have problems, keeping clean an LR560 level measurement radar, i'm using a cleaning air shot, but it doesn't Works. I'm using an air shot valve, the plant air supply pressure it's between 82..90 PSI. The material build up the first silo is dry pozzolane and in the second silo is dry and hot cement mix. Both silos have the same problem.
How should I configure the air cleaning shot?
What kind of air should I use?
Thank you very much,
Best regards,
Erwin Wolf

LR560 Cleaning Configuration - Siemens Self Support

LR560 Level Measurement Radar - Cleaning Issues

Dear Erwin Wolf,

Thank you for contacting Siemens Self Support. Regarding cleaning your LR560 radar level sensors, here's guidance tailored to your pozzolane and cement applications. Access to LR560 Manual is recommended for detailed settings.

Air Cleaning Shot Configuration:

  • Pressure: 82-90 PSI is generally acceptable, however, reduce it to 60-80 PSI as a starting point. High pressure can damage the sensor.
  • Pulse Duration: Begin with short bursts (0.1 - 0.5 seconds). Gradually increase if needed, monitoring for effectiveness.
  • Interval: Start with cleaning every 15-30 minutes. Adjust based on buildup rate. Consider demand-based cleaning triggered by signal loss.
  • Nozzle Alignment: Ensure the air nozzle is correctly aligned with the radar antenna's radiation lobe – typically, a focused stream toward the antenna.

Air Quality:

  • Type: Use clean, dry, oil-free compressed air. Moisture or oil will worsen buildup.
  • Filtration: Implement a filter to remove particulates and moisture from the air supply. A 5-micron filter is a good starting point.

Important Considerations:

  • Pozzolane and hot cement are abrasive. Inspect the antenna for wear.
  • For stubborn buildup, consider a combination of air bursts and a slight antenna tilt.

For further assistance and specific parameter settings, please consult the LR560 manual and consider opening a support request via SiePortal.

Sincerely,
Siemens Self Support
