Motion Control System SIMOTION: high speed counter Within Simotion D

Signals that where in the past connected to a high speed counter input in an S7 configuration, I want to connect them now to my Simotion D435-2.
Are highspeed counter inputs available on this system,or what do I need to count this high speed signals?

High-Speed Counter Inputs for Simotion D435-2

Yes, the Simotion D435-2 does support high-speed counting, but it functions differently than traditional S7 high-speed counter inputs. It doesn't have dedicated hardware high-speed counter inputs like the S7 series.

Instead, the D435-2 utilizes the Technology Objects within the Simotion environment. You can implement high-speed counting functions using the PTO/PWM Technology Object, configured for incremental encoder input or by utilizing the High-Speed Counter Technology Object (if licensed).

Here's how to proceed:

  • PTO/PWM for Incremental Encoders: This is suitable if your signals originate from incremental encoders. Configure a PTO/PWM object and map your signals to the A and B channels.
  • High-Speed Counter Technology Object: If your application requires dedicated high-speed counting with specific features, check if you have the necessary license and configure the High-Speed Counter TO.

For detailed configuration and licensing information, please refer to these resources:

Please consult the Simotion documentation and SiePortal for specific configuration details tailored to your application requirements.
