Hello every body,
I want to upload tags from step7 (I acted from symbol table) to an existing WinCC 7.5 project but according to the warning in the screenshot I have attached, I must first close my existing project that is open by now then the process will be complete.
Is there any way to get tags from step7 App to Wincc 7.5 in existing project?? I have design my graphic elements before in that project and I do not want to create a new wincc project and repeat those again and taking so much time!!
Dear Tornes,
You've correctly identified the issue with initial tag values triggering actions on WinCC runtime startup when using tag toggling. While your approach with the boolean tag and C script is a common workaround, it's not ideal due to the initialization problem.
Unfortunately, there isn't a direct function like "ExecuteGSCaction()" in WinCC v6.2 to directly call a GSC action. Actions are designed to be event-driven or triggered by tag changes, not callable like functions.
Alternative Approach: Consider restructuring your long C-script into reusable functions within the GSC. You can then call these functions directly from your button events or tag change events, avoiding the need to copy and paste the entire script. This enhances maintainability.
Direct Connection for Bit Toggling: While direct connection isn't available for simple bit toggling within WinCC v6.2, you could explore utilizing a small, dedicated VB Script within the button's event. VB Script offers basic bit manipulation functions that could be more efficient than the C-script toggle.
Regarding your current C-script toggle: Setting an initial value to your triggering tag (e.g., 0) is a valid, albeit less elegant, solution to prevent startup triggering. Ensure this initial value is set appropriately for your application logic.

You are correct; WinCC 7.5 generally requires the project to be closed for direct tag import from the STEP 7 symbol table. However, there's a workaround to avoid recreating your entire WinCC project:
