SIMATIC Ident - RFID Systems - Code Reading Systems: Not possible Towards write Towards the Mds514, Fault : 0xE6FE0100

Hello!!
I´m having issues trying to write to an MDS514 through an ASM456 in tia portal V15.1, the thing is that I am able to use the reset and read blocks, but it´s not possible to write to the MDS514, we have this error : 0xE6FE0100
Does anyone know what could be the issue?
The version of the ident blocks are 2.0, the firwmare of the ASM456 is 3.0.
We think that the issue is the firmware but everytime we try to change it it says its not supported by the moduel :/
Thanks in advance! wouls appreciate any help!
Karen

Error 0xE6FE0100 - Writing to MDS514 via ASM456 in TIA Portal V15.1

Hello Karen,

The error code 0xE6FE0100 typically indicates a communication or access rights issue when writing to the MDS514 through the ASM456. Given you can read and reset, the basic connection is functional.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:

  • Firmware Compatibility: While you suspect firmware, the "not supported" message during updates is critical. Confirm the ASM456's firmware (v3.0) is officially compatible with the MDS514 and the Ident blocks (v2.0) you are using. Siemens Documentation provides compatibility information.
  • Ident Block Configuration: Double-check the parameterization of the Ident blocks in TIA Portal. Ensure the write access is enabled and correctly configured for the MDS514’s memory areas.
  • ASM456 Configuration: Verify the ASM456's configuration (e.g., PROFINET settings, IP address, communication parameters) is correct and matches the MDS514's expected setup.
  • Access Rights/User Roles: Ensure the user account used in TIA Portal has sufficient permissions to write to the MDS514.

Regarding the firmware update issue: If the firmware update fails with "not supported," contact Siemens Support directly with your ASM456 serial number. They can confirm the correct firmware path or investigate potential module limitations.

Best regards,
Siemens Self Support
