LOGO! Comfort & macOS Ventura Compatibility

Currently, the LOGO! Comfort software version 8.3 is not officially supported on macOS Ventura (13). While some users have reported limited functionality, Siemens does not guarantee stable operation or full feature set.

The latest officially supported macOS versions are macOS Monterey (12) and earlier.

For detailed compatibility information and potential workarounds, please refer to the following SiePortal FAQ:

LOGO! Comfort - Compatibility with macOS Ventura

We recommend using a supported operating system or running LOGO! Comfort in a virtualized environment (e.g., Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion) with a supported OS for optimal performance and stability.

macOS Compatibility & Siemens Software (M1/M2 Processors)

You are correct to inquire about macOS updates! As of late 2023, support for macOS, particularly with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, and newer) processors, has evolved.

Current Situation: Siemens is actively working on expanding compatibility with Apple Silicon. While older versions of software like STEP 7 Basic (TIA Portal) had limited or no native support, newer versions demonstrate improved performance through Rosetta 2 translation. However, native Apple Silicon support is the ultimate goal for optimal performance and efficiency.

Specific Software: Compatibility varies significantly *by product*. Please refer to the Siemens Support article for detailed information regarding your specific software:

Siemens Software on macOS Catalina 64-bit and later

Recommendations:

  • Check the linked FAQ for your specific software version.
  • Keep your operating system and Siemens software updated to benefit from the latest compatibility improvements.
  • For best performance, native Apple Silicon support is recommended when available.

Disclaimer: As of November 26, 2023, the information is current. Please consult the official Siemens documentation and support channels for the most up-to-date details.

LOGOSOFT 0AB0 Connection Issue

LOGOSOFT 0AB0 Connection Troubleshooting

Based on your description, you're experiencing connectivity issues with your LOGO 0AB0 module despite successful ping results. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:

Possible Causes & Solutions

  1. Firewall Interference: The most common issue is a Windows Firewall blocking LOGO!Soft Comfort communication.
    • Check Firewall: Ensure LOGO!Soft Comfort (and potentially the LOGO! communication driver) is allowed through your Windows Firewall.
    • Temporarily Disable: As a test, temporarily disable the firewall to see if connectivity is restored. *Remember to re-enable it afterward!*
  2. Incorrect Network Settings: While ping works, LOGO!Soft Comfort relies on specific ports and protocols.
    • Verify Subnet Mask: Your IP addresses and subnet masks (255.255.255.0) appear correct for a simple network, but double-check for any conflicting network configurations.
  3. LOGO! Configuration:
    • Network Settings in LOGO!: Confirm the LOGO! itself has the correct IP address (192.168.0.3) and subnet mask configured. Use the LOGO!Soft Comfort to verify this if you can connect briefly.
  4. LOGO!Soft Comfort Version: While v8.2.1 is relatively recent, check for any updates or hotfixes available on Siemens Support.
  5. Driver Issues: Rarely, driver problems can occur. Try reinstalling the LOGO!Soft Comfort software.

High-Speed Counter Connection in LOGO!

The number of high-speed counters available in LOGO! varies depending on the LOGO! version. LOGO! 8 offers up to 4 high-speed counters (HS counters).

The high-speed counters are directly connected to the dedicated high-speed input terminals (HS0 - HS3) on the LOGO! module. They do not reside within a User Defined Function (UDF). This direct connection is crucial for achieving accurate high-speed counting.

LWE Access & License Confirmation

You're encountering the LOGO! Web Editor (LWE) license page instead of the programming interface. This typically happens when the LWE doesn't properly recognize the license from your LOGO! 8.3. Here's how to resolve it:

  1. Ensure LOGO! 8.3 is Activated: Verify your LOGO! 8.3 firmware is fully activated with a valid license *before* connecting via the LWE.
  2. Browser Compatibility: Use a supported browser (latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) and clear browser cache/cookies.
  3. Address Format: Double-check the IP address (198.162.xx.xx) is correct and within your network's range.
  4. License Confirmation: The LWE license page requires you to confirm acceptance. Follow the on-screen prompts to accept the license agreement.
