SINAMICS general: Siemens drives Dcp, Side 2 being connected Including a resistor

Dear Sirs,
In order to connect to a DC load, I have to make sure that the output voltage is correct and stable.
If Side 2 is open, Voltage control mode is selected, it is working with side2 open.
If I connect a resistor to be a load to form a loop, there is no chance to start up successfully.
It is same with current control mode.
My question is:  is it not possible for SINAMICS DCP to connect to a resistor load and start up directly?

SINAMICS DCP & Resistive Load Startup

Dear Sir,

You've correctly identified a behavior with the SINAMICS DCP when attempting direct startup into a resistive load. The DCP typically requires a certain level of reflected power or a dynamic load characteristic for successful startup, especially in voltage or current control modes.

Direct startup into a purely resistive load is generally not recommended and often fails. This is due to the DCP's control algorithm expecting a more reactive response from the load.

Possible Solutions:

  • Ramp-up Control: Implement a slow voltage/current ramp-up instead of a direct start.
  • Minimum Field Weakening: Adjust minimum field weakening to allow initial current flow.
  • External Control: Utilize external control signals to manage the startup sequence.

For detailed guidance and parameter settings specific to your application, please refer to the SINAMICS DCP documentation on SiePortal: SINAMICS DCP Documentation. You can also search for specific application notes related to resistive loads.

Sincerely,
