SIMATIC S5 / STEP 5: Assign Parameter Upon 810T , C Motion Axis Upon turning machine [ Automation System a rotary Motion Axis + live tool turret ]

Hi there
I have a lathe machine , withe sutter turret with live tool option + indramat drive and motor spindle.
in my %TEA1 , (NC MD ) C axis is not definitioned , and I want too intrediuse my C axis and set its own machine data s on my %TEA 1 .
I work on parameter explanation GA3 , I cand set some depended bits but after that , my "work area" and  "reference point " got Alarm .
Any same experiens or help will be grate .
thanks in advance
best regards

Defining C-Axis and Resolving Alarm Issues in SINUMERIK 840D sl

Dear Russell,

Based on your description, you're encountering issues after attempting to define the C-axis in your lathe's %TEA1 (NC MD) with a live tool turret and Indramat drive. The alarms related to "work area" and "reference point" after parameterization are common when the C-axis isn't correctly integrated.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:

  1. Parameter GA3 Configuration: Carefully review the bits you're setting in GA3. Incorrect settings can directly impact work area and reference point definitions.
  2. MD Parameters for C-Axis: Ensure all required machine data (MD) parameters for the C-axis are correctly entered, including:
    • MD20100: C-axis enabled
    • MD20101: C-axis direction of rotation
    • MD20102: C-axis resolution
    • MD20103: C-axis gear ratio
    • MD20105: C-axis maximum speed
  3. Reference Point Definition: Verify the correct reference point is defined and activated for the C-axis. A mismatch here will cause alarms.
  4. Work Area Limits: Check and set the software limits for the C-axis travel. These limits are crucial for preventing collisions.
  5. Drive Configuration: Confirm the Indramat drive is properly configured for the C-axis and is responding correctly to commands.

SiePortal Resources:

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please provide the specific alarm codes you are receiving and the exact bits you’ve set in GA3. This will allow for a more targeted diagnosis.
