SIMATIC S7-400 / S7-400H / S7-400F /FH: Crrent direction Within Ai card

Dear Experts,
Good day, in a current analogue input module, attachment, how is the direction of current?  I put the red arrows in the attachment as I guessed the direction of current should be but I don't know if I am wrong or right. Thank you in advance.

Understanding Current Direction in Analog Input Modules

Dear User,

Based on the attachment (which I cannot directly view, but assuming a standard Siemens analog input module), your assumption regarding the current direction indicated by the red arrows is likely correct, but it's crucial to always verify with the module's specific documentation.

Generally, Siemens analog input modules utilize a 2-wire or 4-wire configuration. In most cases:

  • Power (+24V DC) is supplied to the module.
  • The analog signal current typically flows into the module through the signal input (e.g., from a transmitter).
  • The return path for both power and the signal current is usually through the 0V (GND) connection.

Important: Refer to the module's manual on Siemens Industry Online Support for the definitive current flow diagram and connection details. Search for your specific module part number to find the correct documentation. Incorrect wiring can damage the module.

Disclaimer: This information is based on general Siemens analog input module principles. Always consult the product manual for your exact module.

Sincerely,
Siemens Self Support (Integrated with SiePortal)
