SINAMICS G: Cu240 - PM240-2 STO_A/B - activate

Hi,
Сan I use only one channel on PM240-2 (eg. only STO_A), activated via DIP-switch
(photo attached)?
I don't need any special Safety Function, I just need to be guaranteed to block/stop drive,
for this I usually open the linear contactor, but now I would like to use special inputs (STO).

PM240-2 Single Channel STO Activation

Yes, you can use a single channel of the PM240-2 (e.g., STO_A) activated via DIP switch for blocking/stopping the drive, even without utilizing a full safety function.

The STO (Safe Torque Off) input, when activated, will reliably de-energize the drive, effectively providing the same functionality as opening a linear contactor. Using the STO input is a valid and often preferred method for drive shutdown in applications where a dedicated safety function isn't required, but a guaranteed stop is needed.

Important Considerations:

  • Ensure the DIP switch configuration is correct for activating only the desired STO channel. Refer to the PM240-2 manual for specific DIP switch settings.
  • Verify that the STO input is wired correctly and meets the required safety specifications.

For detailed information on DIP switch settings and STO configuration, please refer to the PM240-2 documentation on SiePortal:
