Switching PLC Connections in WinCC V13 SP1 RT Professional

The ChangeConnection function is primarily associated with older WinCC versions. In WinCC V13 SP1 RT Professional, direct use of this function is not available.

However, you can achieve dynamic connection switching at runtime using alternative methods:

• Indirect Tags & Connection Objects: Configure multiple connection objects to your S7-1200 PLCs. Use indirect tags to dynamically point to the desired PLC's data based on runtime logic.
• VBScripting: Implement VBScript within WinCC to dynamically enable/disable connection objects based on conditions. This requires programming effort.
• Redundancy Configuration: If appropriate, configure redundancy for your connections. While primarily for failover, it offers a path for switching.
