DIGSI 4.94 Modbus Slave Address Issue

Modbus Slave Address Change Not Reflecting in Modscan 32

It appears DIGSI 4.94 correctly changed the Modbus slave address to "1" as verified within the Plug & Play functionality, but Modscan 32 only connects with the old address "9". This indicates a potential communication or mapping issue outside of DIGSI itself.

Here's a troubleshooting approach:

  • Verify Modscan 32 Settings: Double-check all Modscan 32 communication settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits, etc.) match the device configuration in DIGSI.
  • Communication Medium: Ensure the physical connection (cable, port) is functioning correctly. Try a different cable or port if possible.
  • Mapping Integrity: Although you removed and re-added the mapping, confirm the mapping in DIGSI is absolutely correct for the new address. A subtle error can cause this.
  • Device Restart: After changing the Modbus address in DIGSI, a full power cycle of the device is crucial. This ensures the device completely re-initializes with the new settings.
  • Check for Conflicting Devices: Ensure no other devices on the Modbus network are using address "1".

For further assistance, please refer to the SiePortal knowledge base: https://support.industry.siemens.com/sieportal/en/ . Search for "DIGSI Modbus configuration" or "7SJ8041 Modbus communication".

If the issue persists, please open a support request via SiePortal with detailed logs from both DIGSI and Modscan 32.
