Sinamics G120 Red Lamp Indication

Sinamics G120 Red Indication Lamp Troubleshooting

Dear Algudkar,

A continuously lit red lamp on the Sinamics G120 CU330-P2 typically indicates a fault has occurred, even if the drive appears to be running. To suppress *certain* non-critical fault indications (not recommended for safety-critical applications), you can adjust fault reset behavior, but addressing the underlying cause is crucial.

Here's how to investigate and potentially manage the indication:

  • Identify the Fault Code: Use STARDIAG or the control panel to read the exact fault code associated with the red lamp. This is the most important step.
  • Parameter P0710: This parameter controls the fault reset mode. Setting it to "2" (Automatic Reset) can clear some faults automatically, but it masks the problem.
  • Parameter P0711: Defines which faults are latched (remain active) after a reset.
  • Fault List Review: Refer to the Sinamics G120 manual (available on SiePortal) for a complete list of faults and their meanings.

Important: Suppressing faults without understanding their root cause can lead to unexpected behavior and potential damage. Prioritize diagnosing and resolving the actual fault. Consult the manual or Siemens support for specific fault code assistance.

Best Regards,
Siemens Self Support
