WinCC 5.1 SP3 Screen Freeze Issue

WinCC 5.1 SP3 Screen Freeze & ntdll.dll Error

Dear TruongCDC,

The issue you are experiencing with WinCC 5.1 SP3, where the screen freezes after several days and displays an "Unhandled exception was raised" error related to ntdll.dll, is often related to memory leaks or conflicts within the WinCC runtime environment.

Based on similar cases documented in SiePortal, here are potential resolutions:

  • Check WinCC Diagnose Logs: As the error message suggests, thoroughly examine the WinCC Diagnose directory for detailed error logs. These logs often pinpoint the specific cause of the crash.
  • Update WinCC 5.1 SP3: Ensure you are running the latest update pack for WinCC 5.1 SP3. Siemens regularly releases updates addressing known bugs and stability issues. Check SiePortal for available updates.
  • Graphics Driver Issues: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause display issues. Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Memory Leaks: Investigate potential memory leaks in your WinCC project. Complex animations, excessive use of dynamic variables, or poorly optimized scripts can contribute to memory leaks. Use the Windows Performance Monitor to track memory usage.
  • Conflicting Software: Identify if any other software running on the PC is conflicting with WinCC. Temporarily disable non-essential programs to see if the issue resolves.
  • CCRtsLoader.LOG Analysis: The attached CCRtsLoader.LOG file will provide details about the runtime environment and any loading errors that occurred. Share this file with Siemens Support for detailed analysis (see contact information below).

If the issue persists, please open a support request through Siemens Support and attach the CCRtsLoader.LOG file and relevant WinCC Diagnose logs. Providing these files will significantly assist in troubleshooting the problem.

Sincerely,
Siemens Self Support
