Visualization general: Orsi Cube Supervisory control and data acquisition

I have a customer with an old ORSI Cube SCADA application - does anyone know what the file extensions are? I'm trying to price up a replacement (which I assume will need a complete rewrite) based on the number of screens/faceplates etc.
From what I can find the ORSI stuff got bought by Siemens around 2000 ish and got folded into PCS7 but other than that I can't find anything!

ORSI Cube SCADA File Extensions

You are correct, Siemens acquired ORSI around 2000. ORSI Cube used several file extensions, which can help you estimate the scope of a rewrite. Here's a breakdown:

  • .CUB: Cube project file - main project definition.
  • .SCR: Screen definition file. These represent individual SCADA screens.
  • .FPL: Faceplate definition file - reusable graphical objects.
  • .DAT: Data point definitions and configurations.
  • .LSP: Library files containing screen objects or faceplates.
  • .CFG: Configuration files.

Estimating Rewrite Effort: Counting .SCR and .FPL files will give you a good initial count of screens and reusable components. However, the complexity *within* those files will significantly impact rewrite time. Expect a complete rewrite as ORSI Cube is not directly upgradeable to modern Siemens platforms like WinCC OA or PCS 7.

Further Information: While official documentation is scarce, you may find some legacy information on the Siemens Support Portal. Searching for "ORSI Cube" can sometimes reveal archived resources.

Please note that support for ORSI Cube is extremely limited, and migration is the recommended path.
