Communication / Networks: About Fieldbus protocol Terminator

Daniel Chartier, you did it again, an excellent answer! So good, that i'm struggling to find another question to ask, but i have one..
Regarding termination resistors, i looked on the internet and it stated that the value of the terminating resister had to be the same as the impedance of the cable it's connected to, however the profibus connectors have termination resistors built into them, so i assume they are a fixed value. Was i misinformed that that the termination resisto value needs to be variable?
Also, i have been doing some reading on profinet and i am thinking that it may be better to use profinet instead of profibus, or will this make things too complicated? Do you think that it would be more appropriate to start a new thread for this last question?
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Ross
