SIMATIC S7-1200: S7 series 1200 Towards Wonderware Intouch Supervisory control and data acquisition - what about addressing S7-1200 tagnames

Farlo
Dont bother waiting to here back from Wonderware. They will probably give the official line that it is not supported but it does work. The Wonderware DASSIDirect I/O driver works very well with the S7-1200. Just treat it asyou would aS7-300 with a rack and slot of 0. Use all the same adress item names as you would with a 300. Yes we included a CSM-1277.
All working well now. Best of luck.
Regards
Martin.
Hello
and what about addressing S7-1200 tagnames.... ?
as I know there is symbolic addressing in PLC (when tag is named as ex. "test_DB.value01") so in tagname in InTouch I should write "test_DB.value01" in field ITEM ??
ps. I don't have S7-1200 so I can't check this issue...

Addressing S7-1200 Tag Names with Wonderware InTouch

Yes, you are correct. When using symbolic addressing in your S7-1200 PLC (e.g., "test_DB.value01"), you should generally use the exact same tag name ("test_DB.value01") in the 'ITEM' field within Wonderware InTouch.

As confirmed by Siemens support (See SiePortal for related discussions), the Wonderware DASSIDirect I/O driver functions effectively with the S7-1200, similar to how it handles S7-300 PLCs.

Remember to configure the rack and slot as 0 when setting up the connection.

Important Note: While Wonderware might officially state limited support, practical experience demonstrates successful communication using this method.
